SEASONAL FORECASTS IN EUROPE

Français Anglais

MARCH 2012

In Europe :

Strongly contrasted weather conditions are expected in March 2012. It should be very cold, with late snow from Scandinavia to the north of the Balkans and Russia. On the contrary, a very hot mass of air should come from the Tropics to the west of the Maghreb and Andalusia, where an early heat is expected. Warmth should prevail on the other part of the Iberian Peninsula, the southern French regions, Corsica, Sardinia and Tunisia. Few precipitations are expected from the south of the British Isles to France and the Dinaric Alps, via the north of Italy and the north-east of Spain. On the contrary, important precipitations are expected from the south of Portugal to Morocco (thunderstorms) and from the Scandinavian countries to Russia (many and intense snowy events).

In France :

Probable thermal gap : +0.4 degrees – Precipitations : deficient – Sunshine: normal, exceeding in the south

Spring 2012 should start in quietness. Anticyclonic conditions should bring along dry and warm weather on most of our regions. It should be very warm in the southern regions. However frosts should be quite frequent due to starry nights. Day temperatures should often be pleasant. Sunshine should be close to usual figures, even exceeding toward the west end the south.
